My Background
Personal Profile
Hi, I'm Nathan Olsen—a mechanical engineer and entrepenuer based in Phoenix, Arizona, with a lifelong passion for model railroading and precision engineering. When I'm not at work, I'm actively buidling my own 10'x12' double deck n scale layout at home.
By day, I work as an engineer at an aerospace machine shop where we manufacture high-priority components for commercial jet engines, military aircraft, rocket engines, and even satellite systems. I specialize in process development, CNC programming, and quality control to ensure every part meets the strict standards required in this field. It’s demanding work that has sharpened my attention to detail and deepened my respect for precision—and that same mindset carries over into the tools I design for the model railroading community.
I'm also an active member of the Arizona Model Railroading Society in North Phoenix and enjoy being part of a local community that shares my enthusiasm for trains and craftsmanship.
I graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in entrepreneurial studies. While at GCU, I led a team of undergraduate students in a project that became the first student-led research initiative in the country to launch to the International Space Station.
This site is where I share tools I’ve built—like ScaleSync—with other hobbyists looking for simple, affordable solutions to make their layouts more realistic and more fun.
